Professor Vera Ignjatovic AM

Vera is an internationally recognized and highly respected leader in medical research, life sciences, and healthcare innovation, with a proven track record of influence and impact across clinical, academic, and industry sectors. Honored as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for significant contributions to medical science in paediatric disorders and proteomics, as well as for advancing STEM opportunities among underrepresented groups and serving as a dedicated mentor.

She is the Founder and Managing Director of Ignis Innovations, Principal Consultant (Translational Research) at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Institute for Clinical and Translational Research, Adjunct Professor of Paediatrics at Johns Hopkins University, as well as an Honorary Professor at the Department of Paediatrics at the University of Melbourne.

Vera has significant board and committee experience nationally and internationally, including as a Director of the Toyota Community Foundation Australia and Trustee of the Toyota Community Trust, as well as leadership roles at the Human Proteome Organisation and International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis.

She also represented Australia at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games as a member of the Australian Handball Team.
